To annoying and no doubt offensive comments.

1) You have used the word "grok" so many times that the original intent is lost. It was a nice idea after the great asshole massacre of a few weeks ago. Now everyone wants to "grok" and roll every five posts. Old.

2) If you bother to research the word "grok" it refers to a very singular and personal experience which would preclude a group experience, sharing, or other mind melds.

Seriously: enough.

Go grok yerselves.

Having read "Stranger in a Strange Land", no argument from me. It is a group musical experience, with chat going on.
Get groked, buddy! :)

You might want to do some research yourself. Quick start:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok

According to the source (Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land), the definition of grok emcompasses: "lose identity in group experience". Not quite in agreement with your definition. As you can also read on the page, "I grok Spock" goodies seem to be fairly popular, which makes your statement about "mind melds" particulary ironic.

Yes and no. I read the wiki, but more so, I read the novel. Group consciousness means leaving one's self to join in the great cosmic infinity--not a telephone call via a Dead concert. But that's not my point, so I will concede it to you. I'm not posting to split hairs, either pubic or public. Just think that the original attempt to smooth over a tribe that was starting to feast on itself was good; but like all imitations and imitations of imitations, it gets tiresome. The last grok posted was a solo grok!

Let's keep it fresh and interesting.

Here come the flames! Yay! Assholes unite!

Which brings us back to masturbation.

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Pehaps your Poster Name should be "HarryPalms".

Seriously, by all means vent any feeling you may have pro or con the whole "grok" thing, but if others enjoy it, why not just let it be? Don't understand why you seem to be personally offended or at least annoyed.

I'm neither personally offended nor annoyed. In fact, I'm greatly amused. I've enjoyed and greatly missed the fun and games that used to rule before all this peace and love and grok shit came and messed things up.

Actually, SDH, I am a clone of one of you major posters having a ball getting you guys to take the bait.

Fuck--I don't care if you guys grok til you drop! I just find it funny in an odd way that one week we are at one another's throat and then it's all huggies and kissies.

Remember, we're all assholes here!

What did Bobby say? Oh, yes, "See ya!"

And I will.

Yeah, yeah, lighten up.

"...having a ball getting you guys to take the bait"

Hhhhm. Given how incredibly easy that can be at times, I certainly hope you have other hobbies. We tend to be a little cantankerous at times and I for one cetainly like a spirited exhange, as long as it stays out of the personal area. Laugh at us, poke fun at us, its all good, god knows we deserve it from time to time. But hold off on the "lighten up" stuff, no one is "lighter" than myself. OK, back to things that actually matter. Wait, wrong thread.

See? Humor. Sarcastic maybe, but humor nonetheless.

EDIT: Excellent idea, OD. Got some good exchanges going. A "tip-of-the-cap" to you.

Shall we start a poll on the identity of "Grokin&apos"? SOMEBODY'S a little grumpy today.

He does bring up a good point though; what the hell is it with all this Grateful Dead music talk crap? Can you people just let it go already? Go for a walk, play with your kids, pet a dog, something!! BOOOORRRRRRRINGGGGGG.

i can't get too down on him - he didn't lose the game for the Pats - both he and Gaffney did a great job in the playoffs. Our defense just wound down after the Chargers game and the first half of the Colts game - no bench, the flu, and just plain beat up. we had the game and lost it - our offense couldn't get a first down when we needed it and that was that. A great game and the Colts just got one or two more plays than us - just like we did against the Chargers. The three of us are the best three teams in the league by far - one of us had to go, and the Colts are it - we played damn well for a road team - i'm proud, but depressed. gave it our all!

next year!!

The wikipedia is only as good as the opinion of those creating it. Not really a factual version of anything is it?

Ha!

Didn't take much to stir up the hornets.

Now let's grok to that.

Actually, groking is very much like masturbation in a deep spiritual/intellectual way.

Youze guys are more into cybersex.

I wondered why everyone was calling it a "circle grok"

I personally think it is SDH. He couldn't stir the nest so he assumed a second identity so he could stir his own nest.

Now put that in your hand and grok it!
